Book: Limbo (The Joy
Valentine Mysteries Book 1)
Author:
Amy Andrews
Joy Valentine, singer and former
contestant on the X Factor, works in a funeral home doing make-up for the recently
deceased. While working on a murder
victim, the victim’s ghost appears to Joy asking for her help. The ghost wants Joy to find her missing
infant daughter and make sure she is returned her to her father. Joy seeks the help of private investigator
Dashiell Dent, a man she hasn’t seen in three years and had never planned on
seeing again. Dash believes Joy spoke to the ghost of Hailey Richardson and
agrees to help Joy look for the missing Isabella Richardson.
Dash and Joy have a
convoluted history. First of all, three
years ago, Dash and Joy hooked up for one night of incredibly hot sex.
Secondly, Dash was a friend of Joy’s older brother and therefore should be off
limits. And finally, Dash is twelve
years older than Joy, with a 10-year-old daughter and Joy is not looking to be
anyone’s mom.
Dash and Joy decide to not
have a repeat performance of what happened on that night three years ago. They should be able to work together to find
Isabella without going down that road again, right? Besides, Dash prefers his women to be soft
and curvy, not thin and waif-like wearing dark clothes and black nail
polish. And Joy likes hot rocker dudes,
not old, grumpy ex-cops. But the more
the two of them try to avoid the temptation of sex, the more sexually charged
they become.
I really enjoyed this book. The author did an amazing job of including
several different elements to the story.
The book had intrigue, paranormal, a bit of humor, and of course lots of
hot sex. This is a book that could fall
under several different genres, and will appeal to many different people. The
chemistry between Dash and Joy is palpable. They are so good together though
neither one of them can see it. The supporting
characters of this book have a lot of depth to them. Their story lines are fun
and interesting too. I really hope
there’s more where this came from. I’d not
only like to read more mysteries surrounding Dash and Joy, but I also want to
see what happens in the lives of Stan and his church and Eve and her
brothel. (I told you the supporting
characters had depth.) Bravo, Ms. Andrews.
The Joy Valentine Mystery Series is well worth reading!
I was given a
complimentary copy of this book in exchange for an honest review.
